The Northeast has two artificial slope snowsport centres and a number of clubs operating outdoor snow slopes. Learn more about our regional facilities here.
Silksworth Sports Complex and Sunderland Snowsports Centre is one of the premier year-round artificial ski / snowboard centres in the country. With a professional ski school that teaches skiing and snowboarding on three artificial slopes.
In 2015 the Silksworth Ski Centre management was taken over, from the local authority, as part of a joint partnership arrangement. NESA, with the help of the SSE development team, has been able to support the management company, Everyone Active, during the transition period, helping the region and the new management develop a snowsports partnership.
Our 40m artificial slope is floodlit and has a sprinkler system to ensure perfect conditions at all times. Drag lifts service each side of the slope which is available for individual or group use.
